Speaker: Prof. (Dr.) Chintamani Rout

Professor, Law Department, NEHU (A Central University) Meghalaya, India.

Topic: Independence of Judiciary: Vacancies and its Impact on Democracy

Prof. Rout has 27 years of teaching experience, published more than 53 Research Papers in different journals & periodicals and presented more than hundred papers in National and International Seminars. His Principal Research areas include Constitutional Law

and Commercial Law. To his credit he has authored two textbooks in law . He has successfully guided two Ph.D Scholars for the award of Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Law), other eight scholars are doing research under him and he is actively engaged in teaching & research work.

Designation: Advocate practising in Delhi High Court and various other jurisdictions of Delhi NCR, an active member of Uttar Pradesh Advisory Board (A unit of Human Right Council of India)

Topic: Custodial Death and need for strong Anti-Torture laws in India

Her area of work in legal arena are civil and criminal laws, contract law, banking law, corporate law, Intellectual property rights related laws, consumer laws and industrial relations/ labor law. She has  experience  of more than nine years. She gained extensive experience in handling the legal affairs of different private and public sector companies with special expertise in drafting and vetting of Drafts; handling litigation with focus on Labour Laws, Arbitration and Conciliation, Criminal Laws, Civil and Criminal Laws, Intellectual Property Rights, Company Law. She is best known for delivering smart results within highly competitive environment by analyzing the situation and suggesting practical action plans.

As a prolific academician, he had presented a good number of papers in various national as well as international seminars and conferences, and he credited to convene several such seminars.  He is also the  editorial board member of some Journals.He convened the Legal Webinar Series 2020 and has been convening a one-week online Faculty Development Program.  He has even represented The ICFAI University Tripura at National as well as International Level, apart from playing various significant roles in creating inter-institutional relations with several national legal educational institutions.

Dr. Sarkar has completed his LL.M from North Bengal University in 2004 and stood First Class First (Gold Medalist), has awarded Ph.D from Burdwan University in 2019. He has published good number of Articles in various reputed Law Journals and Magazines, has participated and presented papers in national and international Seminars & Conferences. Dr. Sarkar is the Convener & Co-Convener of national and international seminars and also has been playing the role of Coordinator of NAAC and NIRF Committees. Apart from that, he is the In-Charge/Head of many Academic and Administrative Committees in his college.

Experienced in judging moot courts, MUN debates and many other co-curricular activities.
